Back in 1948 Bill and Devora Peake bought Honey Tye Farm from the War Agricultural Executive Committee, almost doubling the size of the couple’s original Hill Farm in Boxford. Bill and Devora tried their hands at many things, including pigs, organics, and even a school for organic husbandry, before settling on fruit and horticultural production.
Honey Tye Farm ended up becoming the location of 4 reservoirs, utilising the winter rainfall flowing down Sower’s Brook, which is the centre of our irrigation system (and at the time, was the largest private system in Europe).
Honey Tye is the Peake family’s largest constituent farm. We now farm around 300 hectares of hand-picked fruit and asparagus on our two sites in Suffolk and Essex, on the edge of the Dedham Vale and Stour Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
A note from Robert Rendall
3rd generation family director
“We created Honey Tye in answer to more and more calls from local customers to supply our excellent quality produce. Due to the proximity of the farm to our selected East Anglian customers, buyers can be sure of eating the best quality fruit. It is at least one, if not two, days fresher than fruit bought in the supermarkets or on the market!”
